VP Commercial Analysis

Reporting to the SVP Commercial Analysis and located in Dublin, the position of VP Commercial Analysis is a key member of the Financial and Commercial Analysis team. The Commercial Analysis team is part of the Financial and Commercial Analysis (FCA) team and is focused on the structuring and pricing of transactions to place new aircraft on order, acquisitions through Sale and Leaseback, and Aircraft Trading opportunities.

The Commercial Analysis team work on the deal teams for transactions and projects with its value stemming from the models it builds and uses as well as the analysis and recommendations it makes; building on both the work of the larger CFO team and the specific commercial analysis, planning and forecasting performed by the FCA team. The team ensures transactions are appropriately priced and recorded.

The VP Commercial Analysis is responsible for ensuring any transaction is appropriately priced, efficiently structured, and accurately recorded. Working with the rest of the company, developing optimal commercial outcomes and executing the transactions, confirming all transactions’ financial and risk implications are properly processed and understood by the rest of the SMBC AC business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with members of the FCA team to ensure all financial and commercial aspects of potential transactions are considered.
  • Ensure constructive input is provided to Deal Teams while accurate and timely pricing, structuring and other support is given to transactions.
  • Advise deal teams on optimum transaction structure to maximise deal economics for the business.
  • Embrace market intelligence and provide insight to the business to enable enhanced decision making, contributing actively to the debate around the issues.
  • Review and continually improve transaction models for more complicated deals.
  • Provide relevant information to deal teams and stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Liaise between the Deal Team and rest of the CFO team.
  • Contribute to development of the commercial analysis function to ensure it continually adds value including reviewing and improving transaction models, processes and analysis.
  • Provide insight to Deal Teams to enhance decision making, while contributing actively to the discussion.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in the aviation industry, aircraft leasing or asset management role.
  • A combination of degree, demonstrable experience or Professional Qualification in a financial discipline and / or aeronautical engineering.
  • Understanding of sources of value within an aircraft lease / sale at a transaction and business level.
  • Experience of financial analysis or scenario modelling.
  • Proven track record of working in a fast paced, dynamic, service orientated environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent numerical analysis ability and proven track record in analysing and manipulating data.
  • Commercial outlook with customer centric approach to business.
