SMBC Aviation Capital closes $500 million senior unsecured notes offering

-Second successful capital fundraising demonstrates market confidence in company strategy-

Dublin, July 19, 2017: SMBC Aviation Capital, one of the world’s leading aircraft leasing companies, today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SMBC Aviation Capital Finance DAC, has closed the sale of $500 million principal amount of 3.00%, 5-year senior unsecured notes due July 2022 (the “Notes”).The Notes are fully and unconditionally guaranteed by SMBC Aviation Capital.

This successful bond placement - priced at US Treasuries plus 115 basis points - follows SMBC Aviation Capital’s debut capital markets issuance in July 2016.The proceeds from the offering will be used for general corporate purposes which may include, among other things, the purchase of aircraft and the repayment of existing indebtedness.

Commenting on the issuance, Barry Flannery, Chief Financial Officer of SMBC Aviation Capital, said: “The successful execution of this transaction demonstrates the market’s confidence in our business and our commitment to diversifying our sources of funding.Our bond programme is the foundation of our third-party funding strategy and, together with our ongoing shareholder support, will underpin the delivery of our future growth”.

SMBC Aviation Capital concludes four aircraft deal with new customer Lucky Air

July 5th 2017 – SMBC Aviation Capital and Chinese low cost carrier, Lucky Air, today announced that they have entered into an agreement for the placement of four Boeing B737-8 MAX aircraft.This deal represents SMBC Aviation Capital’s first placement of the MAX aircraft from its order book with Boeing and Lucky Air’s first order of a Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft.

The new aircraft are scheduled to deliver in 2018 and 2019. The 737 MAX aircraft is one of the most technologically advanced in the world and is equipped with CFM International LEAP-1B engines, Advanced Technology winglets and other improvements to deliver the highest efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort in the single-aisle market. The aircraft will support Lucky Air’s low-cost strategy within China.
