Senior Financial Reporting Accountant

Overview of Role

The Finance team is responsible for providing management and financial information to and between the business and three key stakeholders:

  • Senior management
  • Shareholders
  • Third party stakeholders such as auditors, regulators and tax advisors

This particular role is a senior technical accounting role which is extremely visible within the business. The role has a wide variety of responsibilities. Specifically, providing technical accounting solutions and transactional analysis from an accounting perspective, whilst also being mindful of the commercial impacts of such solutions. Additionally the role holder will be involved in the presentation of Financial Statements for SPV companies managed by SMBC Aviation Capital (AC).

Assistant Vice President - Powerplant

Overview of the role

Based in Dublin and reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP) – Powerplant, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) - Powerplant is a key role within SMBC Aviation Capital’s (AC) Technical Asset Management Team.

The Technical Asset Management team is responsible for:

(i)The negotiation of all technical aspects of transactions with respect to AC’s fleet of owned and debt financed aircraft.

(ii)The project management of all technical/OEM/MRO/BFE work undertaken on AC’s fleet to facilitate our overall business objectives.

(iii)Oversight and active asset management of the technical condition of the AC fleet including inspections, technical due diligence on airline clients, approval of maintenance work and associated reserve claims.

Commercial Analyst

Overview of the role

SMBC Aviation Capital (SMBC AC) is looking for a highly numerate Commercial Analyst with a strong sense of economic value and a focus on customer delivery. The role is based in Dublin and reports to the SVP of Commercial Analysis & Execution.

Our principal activity is leasing and trading aircraft, with a clear focus on young commercial jet aircraft of the types most popular with our customers. This has allowed us to deliver 15 consecutive years of growth and profitability.The role represents a unique opportunity for candidates with vision, energy and ambition to make their contribution to our transactions, work within a multi-disciplinary deal team and deepen and extend their commercial acumen.

Financial & Portfolio Planning
Financial & Portfolio Planning (“FPP”) is a hub within SMBC AC, which determines the type of business we conduct and actively plans for how we manage the portfolio. Its remit is to further improve the risk / return profile of SMBC Aviation Capital by integrating the analysis of the business as a whole with that of the individual transactions and their funding / hedges. The team provides deep insight into the sources of risk and return throughout the lifecycle of the assets in our portfolio with a view to giving optionality to the business to optimise its decisions and outcomes.

Commercial Analysis & Execution

The Commercial Analysis & Execution team is at the heart of our business. Its members work on the deal teams for transactions and projects with its value stemming from the models it builds and uses as well as the analysis, innovations and recommendations it makes. It cannot do this in isolation and so builds on both the work of the larger CFO team and the specific portfolio & business analysis, planning and forecasting performed by the FPP team.

As well as ensuring any transaction is appropriately priced, hedged and recorded and working with the rest of the company in executing the transactions, the team ensures all transactions’ financial and risk implications are properly processed and understood by the rest of the business.

Overall, as well as having an opportunity to work with the many core disciplines within SMBC AC, the role provides an excellent vantage point from which to see and understand all aspects of our transactions.

Contract Manager

Overview of Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an ambitious and experienced Contract Manager to join the Contract Management team. This team is responsible for providing lease management services to SMBC Aviation Capital’s (AC) portfolio of airline and investor customers. You will cover a dedicated portfolio and have regular exposure to Finance and Fleet Departments at airlines and to Banks providing Letters of Credit to us on behalf of your customers. You will have daily contact with other AC teams (Technical, Marketing, Trading, Treasury, Finance and Legal teams). You will be highly motivated with strong organisational skills and have a passion to succeed through the consistent delivery of excellent customer service.

Technical Data Manager

Overview of Role

The Business Information (BI) Team is responsible for collecting, reviewing, analysing, controlling and ensuring consistency of all core information within the business in relation to our fleet of owned and managed aircraft and aircraft leases. This information is then used to provide management and financial information to and between the business and numerous key stakeholders including the Airline Marketing team, Finance team, Senior Management, our Shareholders and Third party stakeholders such as auditors, regulators, financiers and professional advisors.

Based in Dublin, the Technical Data Manager will work with the other members of the Business Information team and will have a responsibility in controlling all Technical Aircraft information. This is an extremely important role as it has responsibility for keeping up to date the current physical condition of an aircraft and for extracting the maximum information from the utilisation / inspection / shop visit reports that we receive. A key objective of the Business Information team is to maintain the integrity of the data held in our systems and this role is integral to achieving that objective.
