SVP Architecture

SMBC Aviation Capital business has undergone significant growth over the past number of years and is a global leader in Aviation Finance and Leasing. In parallel SMBC Aviation Capital has undergone a significant IT transformation project consisting re-engineering the infrastructure, backend processes, and supporting systems to provide an integrated management system across all of SMBC’s core business activities. This work included data and system consolidation and validation. The SMBC Aviation Capital Information & Technology Team of highly skilled and experienced IT and business professionals are responsible for the development of the new Information and Technology landscape in addition to supporting day to day business operations.Our core systems are based on a variety of Microsoft platforms.

We are now embarking on the next stage of our IT journey, taking our IT platforms to the cloud, with a target state architecture that leverages SaaS business application platforms with targeted custom development for bespoke needs, application extensions and integration, continuing our journey to a fully integrated application suite to support our end to end business processes.

Overview of Role

The successful candidate will be a leader within the SMBC Aviation Capital Information &Technology team and will have proven experience in designing and delivering technology strategies and architecture projects within Medium / Large organisations. The role will report directly to the Senior Vice President – Head of IT and will be part of the IT Leadership team. It will be responsible for the end to end management of the overall application architecture including roadmap definition.

The Architect will bring the vision, energy and ambition to develop and deliver the I&T Technology strategy. In a landscape where Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, IoT and other emerging technologies are starting to come to the fore it is vital that SMBC Aviation Capital are building this into their future technology platform. As a leader, the Architect will need to ensure alignment with business and technical teams, and the culture of SMBC Aviation Capital, continuously seeking better ways of delivering growth and profitability in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of the end to end application architecture to ensure it is fit for purpose for the organisation.
  • Research, design, and development of the architecture in accordance with specified business and architectural requirements and standards.
  • Overall systems analysis and design, including sign-off of integrated designs completed by other members of the team.
  • Applications technology roadmap management in conjunction with SVP Infrastructure, and members of the IT team as appropriate
  • Application infrastructure design and maintenance
  • Technical leadership across all applications including providing technical guidance and assistance to Application Managers
  • Design and implementation of Software Development processes and standards in conjunction with the SVP of Applications, in particular the implementation of Agile working methods
  • Definition and implementation of design standards and ‘best practice’ across all applications/data/infrastructure
  • Working with the SVP Head of IT in the definition and development of the overall Application Technology Strategy for the organisation, including ‘ways of working’
  • Researching external industry and competitor technology trends and evaluating current and emerging technologies

Cyber Security Analyst

We have a fleet of 670 owned, managed and committed aircraft.

Every minute one of SMBC Aviation Capital’s aircraft takes off or lands somewhere in the world. Our team of 180 professionals are based in Dublin and at locations in Amsterdam, Beijing, Hong Kong, Miami, New York, Seattle, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo and Toulouse.

The SMBC Aviation Capital Information & Technology Team of highly skilled and experienced IT and business professionals are responsible for the development of our Information and Technology landscape in addition to supporting day to day business operations. Our core systems are based on a variety of Microsoft platforms.

This new Cyber Security Analyst will work within the SMBC Aviation Capital Information &Technology team and report directly to the Information Security Manager.

Key Responsibilities include
  • Support the Information Security manager in monitoring and protecting SMBC AC’s information assets in accordance with the SMBC AC information security policies, standards, and practices
  • Manage day-to-day operational and monitoring activities
  • Risk assessment of new developments
  • Provide input and assistance in the execution of SMBC AC’s information security awareness and training activities
  • Design and implementation of Security Standards and processes in conjunction with the Information Security manager
  • Research, design, and development of security controls in accordance with specified business and architectural requirements and standards.


HR Analyst

We now have a vacancy for a HR Analyst on our HR team for a one year fixed term contract. Reporting to the HR Manger – Reward and Engagement in support of the People Strategy, as the successful candidate you will be specifically responsible for providing HR analytical support to the wider HR team. Working closely with the Head of HR and HR Manager - Talent Acquisition and Development, this is a unique opportunity to work in an extremely varied role, where you will gain insight and experience into a complete suite of HR activities as well as hone your analytical skills in a results-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

HR Analytics

  • Act as a subject matter expert for monitoring and reporting on HR activities – including resourcing, recruitment and selection, payroll, remuneration, and learning and development
  • Design, maintain and enhance HR reports and provide key HR data metrics and analytics on a regular and ad-hoc basis
  • Design and execute processes with a view to increasing efficiency within the HR team and user experience in the wider company
  • Develop knowledge of the Human Resources Systems with a view to improving utilisation of functionality, efficiency and user experience
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide people-related data and analysis

HR Executive Support

  • Provide ongoing support and be a point of contact on HR queries for the HR team
  • Assist with payroll inputs / preparation for four jurisdictions (Ireland, France, Netherlands and Hong Kong)
  • Assist with global mobility administration and track key metrics
  • Work with the HR Manager on the planning and roll out of the annual employee survey and employee wellbeing programme.
