Senior Financial Reporting Accountant

Overview of Role

The Finance team is responsible for providing management and financial information to and between the business and three key stakeholders:

  • Senior management
  • Shareholders
  • Third party stakeholders such as auditors, regulators and tax advisors

This particular role is a senior technical accounting role which is extremely visible within the business. The role has a wide variety of responsibilities. Specifically, providing technical accounting solutions and transactional analysis from an accounting perspective, whilst also being mindful of the commercial impacts of such solutions. Additionally the role holder will be involved in the presentation of Financial Statements for SPV companies managed by SMBC Aviation Capital (AC).

Vice President Investor Relations & Funding

Overview of the role:

Since our inception in 2001, our shareholders have been our primary debt providers. Today, our shareholder funding represents c. 50% of our total debt funding requirements. While we expect that our shareholder will continue to be our primary debt provider, in order to provide us with increased flexibility and scale to finance our future growth plans, our strategy is to develop a more diversified range of financing sources for a proportion of our funding requirements. In this regard, we issued our inaugural $500m senior unsecured bond in July 2016, followed up by a second issuance of a $500m senior unsecured bond in July 2017.

The Funding team is responsible for the raising of our third party financing, managing our relationship with our external debt investors and to support our internal relationship with our shareholders

Commercial Negotiator - Asia Pacific Region (Based in Hong Kong)

You will be the newest member of a team that blends both youth and experience, composed of individuals from a range of professional backgrounds (e.g. finance, legal, engineering). You will be an integral part of our cross-functional “Deal Teams” that structure and execute the transactions that build our business and that allow our clients to succeed. This role, reporting to the Head of Commercial Negotiation, will give you unparalleled exposure to senior management here and at our customer, and the full range of transactions that shape our industry.

You are likely to be a rising star in your field with the qualifications, skills and ambition to become a hugely experienced Aircraft financing executive. You will share our desire to achieve excellence in meeting our corporate objectives and those of our ambitious shareholders. You will be ready to start developing an in-depth knowledge of our industry and an ability to understand the commercial drivers behind aircraft finance and the needs of our customers.

Vice President Technical (Boeing Deliveries Manager - Seattle)

Reporting to TAM Regional Manager Americas, the Deliveries Manager will be responsible for SMBC Aviation Capital’s delivery programme with Boeing. Based in Seattle the Deliveries Manager will oversee all technical aspects of the delivery of new aircraft from Boeing and will liaise with other teams within SMBC Aviation Capital to ensure compliance with Purchase Agreement.

Vice President Technical Asset Management - Asia

Based in either Hong Kong or Singapore the Vice President of Technical Asset Management is a key role within SMBC Aviation Capital’s (AC) Technical Asset Management (TAM) Team. The Technical Asset Management team is responsible for:

  • The negotiation of all technical aspects of transactions with respect to AC’s fleet of owned, managed and debt financed aircraft.
  • The project management of all technical/OEM/MRO/BFE work undertaken on AC’s fleet to facilitate our overall business objectives including aircraft transition project management.
  • Oversight and active asset management of the technical condition of the AC fleet including inspections, technical due diligence on airline clients, approval of maintenance work and associated reserve claims.

Technical Manager - Records/Managed Assets

Overview of the role:

Based in Dublin and reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP) and Head of Powerplant, the Technical Manager Records /Managed Assets is a key role within SMBC Aviation Capital’s (AC) Technical Asset Management Team.

The Technical Asset Management team is responsible for:

(i) The negotiation of all technical aspects of transactions with respect to AC’s fleet of owned and debt financed aircraft.

(ii) The project management of all Technical/OEM/MRO/BFE work undertaken on AC’s fleet to facilitate our overall business objectives.

(iii) The oversight and active asset management of the technical condition of the AC fleet including inspections, technical due diligence on airline clients, approval of maintenance work and associated reserve claims, delivery and redelivery of aircraft, and the integrity of data and records.

Receptionist

Overview of the Role

Based in Dublin, the Office Support Function consists of 3 PA’s and 2 Receptionists and 1 Office Assistant. The team provides administrative assistance for Management and the 140+ employees based at the SMBC AC Headquarters in Dublin and the 30+ employees based in satellite offices around the world.

This is a permanent role based in the reception area of the SMBC AC, a very busy, customer facing business with a large number of meeting rooms. The role will be one of 2 Receptionists based at the front of house. The role requires the provision of a full front of house service as well as general administrative assistance to the Office Support function and the larger office as required.

Our Programme

We currently have an opportunity for a 3 month Internship placement for Summer 2018.

Join us as an Intern and you will be assigned to an analyst role. Based in our Head Office in Dublin, you’ll work within one business team yet have direct exposure to all areas of the business. As you learn about the different parts of our organisation, you’ll also develop important relationships and build career-enhancing skills.
