FARNBOROUGH, UK / DUBLIN, Ireland - 20 July 2026: SMBC Aviation Capital, the leading global aviation finance platform, today announced landmark agreements with Airbus and Boeing for a total of 200 latest-technology narrowbody aircraft, alongside a contract with engine manufacturer CFM International covering up to 90 additional LEAP 1-A engines. The orders, signed at the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow, cement SMBC Aviation Capital's status as the global aviation finance platform, positioned to provide airline and investor customers with the aircraft and financing products that they need to achieve their growth ambitions in the long term.
The Airbus agreement covers 100 A320neo Family aircraft, comprising firm orders for 65 A321neo and 35 A320neo. The Boeing agreement covers firm orders for 100 737 MAX aircraft, consisting of 60 737 MAX 10 and 40 737 MAX 8. The two aircraft families represent the latest generation of narrowbody aircraft, which deliver materially lower fuel burn and CO₂ emissions compared to previous generation aircraft, while providing airlines with increased flexibility to up-gauge capacity and serve a mix of short-haul and longer distance routes. In addition, SMBC Aviation Capital signed an agreement with CFM International for up to 90 additional LEAP 1-A engines to power its existing Airbus A320neo family orders, comprising firm orders for 70 engines and purchase rights for an additional 20.
