Dublin, 23 July 2026: SMBC Aviation Capital, the leading global aviation finance platform, announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, SMBC Aviation Capital Finance DAC, has closed the sale of $2 billion in senior unsecured notes across a range of tenors including three-year, five-year, and ten-year tenors at principal amounts of 4.95%, 5.2% and 5.7% respectively, with a weighted average coupon across the broader offering of 5.27% (the “Notes”). The Notes are fully and unconditionally guaranteed by SMBC Aviation Capital.
The bond placement, which was more than six times oversubscribed, is priced at US Treasuries plus 70 basis points for the 3-year offer, 85 basis points for the 5-year offer and 112 basis points for the 10-year offer. It is the company’s twelfth successful bond offering following its debut capital markets issuance in July 2016.
SMBC Aviation Capital’s bond programme is an important part of the company’s capital structure, providing access to debt at different points of the tenor curve. The success of SMBC Aviation Capital’s latest bond offering, and the level of oversubscription, underscores the strong investor appetite for exposure to the business and further strengthens the company’s financial position.
Aisling Kenny, Chief Financial Officer, SMBC Aviation Capital, said:
“This is another successful bond offering for SMBC Aviation Capital the size of which reflects the greater scale, reach and relevance of our market-leading platform. The strong reception this transaction received from the capital markets is a further endorsement of our business model and credit profile, as we continue to execute on our strategy.”
