SMBC Aviation Capital signs five Airbus A320neo aircraft deal with SAS

SMBC Aviation Capital, one of the world's leading aircraft leasing companies has today (December 12th 2016) announced that it has concluded a deal with Scandinavian Airline, SAS, for five Airbus A320neo aircraft on Sale and Leaseback.

This is the most significant deal that SMBC Aviation Capital has completed with the airline and is the company's first Airbus A320neo to be placed in Europe.

The first aircraft (MSN 7352) will deliver on December 14th 2016 with the additional four aircraft expected to deliver between 2017 and 2018.

Commenting on the deal, Brian Harvey, Chief Marketing Officer, SMBC Aviation Capital said, "We are very pleased to conclude a deal of scale with SAS, our first deal in Europe for the placement of an Airbus A320neo. This is a new partnership with SAS and we look forward to working with the airline in delivering on its future fleet requirements."

Niklas Hårdänge, Vice President Fleet Management, SAS added, "We are very pleased to add these new technologically enhanced aircraft from SMBC Aviation Capital to our fleet in line with our growth objectives."

The agreement means that SAS, at the time of delivery of the aircraft will sell the aircraft to SMBC Aviation Capital and then lease them back for a long term lease period.

In total, SMBC Aviation Capital has leased 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft with airline customers across the world in 2016.
