SMBC Aviation Capital first aircraft leasing company to sponsor the Trinity SMF
Applications for SMBC Aviation Capital Graduate Programme open October 1st
Dublin, 10 September 2018: SMBC Aviation Capital, one of the world's leading aircraft leasing companies, today announced its sponsorship of the Trinity Student Managed Fund (Trinity SMF), becoming the first aircraft lessor to sponsor the fund.
Established in 2010, the Trinity SMF became the first student managed fund in Europe. Run entirely by students, the fund which has 600 members, aims to develop students' skills in equity analysis, investing and risk management. As well as being an unparalleled educational resource for students, the fund also offers numerous opportunities for networking and professional development.
The Trinity SMF spans a wide variety of faculties including business, STEM and law among others. Since its inception, the fund has grown consistently year-on-year. One of the key objectives behind the sponsorship is to increase female participation in the fund, a goal which is shared by SMBC Aviation Capital which aims to increase female participation in its own graduate programme and in the aircraft leasing industry. Female membership in the fund is now at 41%. This is largely thanks to the Women in Business initiative, a dedicated group which encourages female involvement in all aspects of the fund. A key feature of the sponsorship will be a special EduClass Series event where SMBC Aviation Capital will present to students on the role of the aircraft leasing industry in Ireland and the skills needed to advance a career in the sector. The company will also introduce students to its industry-leading graduate programme which opens for applications on Monday 1st October.
Commenting on the sponsorship, David Swan, COO, SMBC Aviation Capital said:
"Every year, we select a small number of high-potential graduates looking for opportunities in the fast-paced, global and dynamic business of aircraft leasing and we are looking forward to meeting this talented group of candidates."
Marie-Louise O'Callaghan, CEO, Trinity SMF added:
"We are delighted to welcome SMBC Aviation Capital as a sponsor of the Trinity SMF. Not only is the fund a great way for students to enhance their skillsets, it offers unrivalled access to some of Ireland's leading companies through a host of unique networking and professional development events, as well as exclusive internship opportunities."
