Update regarding SMBC Aviation Capital receiving up to USD $1 billion in capital from its shareholders
Dublin March 30th 2018: SMBC Aviation Capital has received confirmation that its shareholders, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. ("SMFG" ) and Sumitomo Corporation ("Sumitomo Corp" ) have signed the final agreement regarding 1) the reorganisation of the SMFG and Sumitomo Corp joint leasing partnership and 2) the intention to invest US$700 million equity capital from SMFL and SMBC and US$300 million subordinated loan from SMBC into SMBC Aviation Capital. Both matters are expected to complete over the period November 2018 to January 2019. This follows on from the announcement on November 6th 2017 of the signing of the basic agreement.
The time schedule is subject to change based on the progress made in obtaining approval from the relevant regulatory authorities.
